Artist: Joe Madureira
Cover: Sketch Cover/Foil Cover
Print: Limited

Cover Opinion:
As much as I like this cover (and the artist), it's missing that flare of color. Even though it IS a sketch cover...but when the foil cover is not colored either, it's just too plain for my taste. Guile doesn't deserve to be in that trio. =)

Artist: ???
Cover: Comic Book Expo Exclusive
Print: Expo Exclusive Limited

Cover Opinion:
It seems as though this is a variant of the other one. It doesn't deserve the same stars because it was just a recolor.
Artist: ???
Cover: San Diego Comic Con
Print: Con Exclusive Limited
Cover Opinion:
This cover almost makes no sense to me, it has the main original twelve, but then has Akuma, who wasn't of the original twelve. Great art style however, it's fantastic and character-filled that models the original outfits closely.
Artist: ???
Cover: Wizard World Chicago Variant
Print: Special Edition Limited
Cover Opinion:
Too plain, one character, which of whom is an overpowered character. I do like Akuma, but this cover is extremely plain, and I really do not like plain. As limited as it is, I would have rather preferred the other two above if I had a choice.

No Back Up Story
Introduction: We all know Street Fighter II, but have we ever known of a comic that would actually follow the storyline and have the comic producers work closely with Capcom? No. Hence, why I have high expectations for this series. Now this isn't the first issue in the series, but it is definitely needed. It's a back-up story in a sense, except in it's own issue. I call it a gaiden to the story. It's not necessary, but it's used so you can understand the plot better if you don't know the world of Street Fighter that well. It's a definite pickup for the reader to understand the storyline better as references are made straight from the first issue.

Synopsis: Starting off with a very scenic training session with Ryu. Master Gouken, his sensei, narrates the comic book. As the comic progresses, Ryu begins to meditate, as Master Gouken continues to narrate. He explains that with every light there is a dark, at this point, Ryu begins to fight his evil form. A vigorous but dreamed battle takes place within Ryu's mind. Master Gouken continues to tell Ryu about evil and that he should not give up. At the end of his dream, Ryu is about to be finished by his evil form, until he wakes up hearing the yells of someone who sounds like Master Gouken. Rushing towards the dojo, Master Gouken is seen dead, with the character TEN, in Japanese, written in blood. (If you know of Akuma, his sign after the "Raging Demon" marks a sign with the same sign.) At this point, the comic book ends with a to be continued.

Notable Character First Appearances:

Ryu
Gouken
Evil Ryu

Conclusion:
This is a great beginning, or should I say gaiden, to the Street Fighter comic book series. It manages to captivate the reader so well in the first opening. When a reader, who does not even know of Street Fighter, opens this and sees action, that marks it as an amazing action-packed comic. However, this was a limited #0, and so not many people were able to read this one too much I believe. However, me having every comic, of course I had the ability to.

The downside of #0, is that it seemed to be a little rushed in terms of fighting and etc. There could've been more pages to a prequel of the series. At roughly only nine pages of the main story, I guess it's best to only keep it as something you don't necessarily need or a preview. The end of the comic adds more to make the comic thicker. The end of the comic contains the original twelve character (and apparently Akuma) and describes his or her intention with the tournament in Street Fighter II. Even though it appears this comic book starts with Capcom's Street Fighter Alpha storyline.

With great artwork, coloring, and guest artist covers, Street Fighter: The Comic Series, is a series to get. Even though the text was sometimes difficult to read, it's well worth reading. I can say however, that there appears to be a mistake in one of the wordings, I forget where, but the grammar editor need to read again. With it's projected monthly release date that has since gone under, it's a definite enjoyment for any fan of Street Fighter and anyone who loves action-packed comics.
