Artist: Joe Madureira
Cover: A
Print: First Print

Cover Opinion:
Interesting that I didn't enjoy this cover without color, but when the color was added...it's made it such a wonderful cover! I enjoy this cover the most out of the two first-prints. Joe Madureira is a fantastic artist I have to say.

Artist: Arnold Tsang
Cover: B
Print: First Print

Cover Opinion:
This is the entire game-play cast that features everyone, I think this is such a wonderful cover. It contains every character in an unorganized fashion. It's almost SF3 Vs. SFA, but it's not. Wonderful coloring also!
Artist: ???
Cover: C
Print: Second Print
Cover Opinion:
Anime-inspired, one of my favorites. As much as I want the characters to look realistic/cartoonish at the same time, this one used anime-inspiration real well. The use of colors is amazing also, as a tri-fold coloring.
Artist: Jo Chen
Cover: Power Foil
Print: Special Edition Limited
Cover Opinion:
Chun-Li, the most popular girl fighter in the series. This drawing shows Chun-Li taking chi in. This makes the cover amazingly worthwhile, the picture does not do justice as to what a power foil cover is! Released alongside the first print, it is the cover to get if you can.

Introduction: If you read my first review of #0, you will know that one of the best fighting game franchise is being made into a comic series! Now if you didn't read the #0 issue, then it shouldn't matter too much as the story quickly summarizes it in a few words. The first issue packs a lot of character first appearances (noted below) and has two collinear storylines taking place that collides.

Synopsis: Beginning with the death of Charlie Nash, the story quickly paces after the page turns. Guile is shown to be mad over the fact that his best friend is dead, while in other places, Ryu shows up to Ken's Mansion meeting Eliza along the way (his girlfriend). Ryu shows up with a serious attitude while Ken is not until Ryu states that their Master Gouken had been murdered. Appearing to be Guile's assistant, Gibson comes up and tells Guile of that Shadaloo has been active. Gibson states that they seem to be interested in Ryu. As Ryu and Ken head out to eat to discuss the death of Master Gouken, trouble arises. Birdie shows up, working for Shadaloo, to cause ruckus in the restaurant. The police shows up, along with Guile, to put Birdie and his gang to rest. Guile notices Ryu from the corner of his eye but a small battle takes place between Guile and Birdie. As Birdie gets beaten, one of the other gang members run away to get caught by...Chun-Li with her rapid kicks taking the runaway member down.

Back-Up Issue Synopsis: The final battle of the first Street Fighter begins to commence, a vigorous battle between Ryu and Sagat takes place. Towards the end, it is show that Ryu's Shoryuken made the scar on Sagat's chest. Bison tells Ryu that he has potential...and the tournament ends.

Sagat
Balrog
Vega
Ken Masters

Conclusion:
Starting off the comic with Charlie dying is extremely eye-catching. A wonderful way to start the series I might add. With this, it adds two storylines that will eventually collide at the end of the comic. While the artwork and everything is notably wonderful, it has a factor that's hard to face...it's...short. Incredibly short comic at only 18 pages. As a first issue, it would've been better to start off with a bigger issue. However, the coloring that this comic has that many other comics do not definitely make up for the lack of pages. The story is definitely laid out fairly simple, telling the story in the length that it would be occurring. It does pace very fast after the characters are introduced. It's a wonderful start of the series, with unexpected outcomes to the series and kinks to the storyline that is set by Capcom (which is almost non-existent!).

The downside of the first issue, is that it indeed is incredibly short. The backup story makes up for what is missing, but it is still very short. The text was also something to get used too, sometimes you can get confused as to what word you are actually reading. However, there is not that many defects in this issue at all! A wonderful way to start off.

Studio Udon has proven to be an amazing group, with writer Ken Siu-Chong having amazing storylines and the artists doing an wonderful job! With wonderful drawings, coloring, backup issues, and a fun SF-related Cheap Shots series, it's a great way to start off. This benchmark that Studio Udon has put on is extremely high, from here on out the series will hopefully get better and better. Many people either use all their all for the first issue, or set it as a benchmark to what's to come. I hope this is the benchmark, and with that, the next issue should be an amazing addition!
